CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — A man wanted for child rape was arrested at his campsite near Crossville yesterday, Nov. 5. according to the Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force (SMFTF).
The Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force arrested the 46-year-old, Joey Mineshaw, a violent Indiana fugitive, on arrest warrants out of Marshall County, Alabama.
The SMFTF is a U.S. Marshal task force made up of 27 law enforcement agencies in regions of East Tennessee, including the Chattanooga Police Department.
The group focuses on arresting individuals with outstanding state or federal warrants.
SMFTF received information from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department that Mineshaw may have been in the Prentice Cooper State Forest Area in Marion County, TN.
Officers worked with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) to discover that Mineshaw had camped in the state forest.
Mineshaw had already left the campsite, but Flock cameras in Crossville, TN, captured his pickup truck.
SMFTF members, along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, FBI, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, began checking campgrounds in Cumberland County.
Minesahw’s truck was spotted at a primitive campsite in the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area.
Law enforcement arrested him at the campsite without incident.
