She is set to be welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who leads Africa’s most powerful military force and serves as a key regional partner in Middle Eastern diplomacy.
Slovenian president arrives in Egypt for landmark official visit
Pirc Musar built a prominent legal career before entering high office, serving as Slovenia’s Information Commissioner from 2004 to 2014 and establishing a law firm that represented high-profile international clients, including Melania Trump.
Elected as Slovenia’s head of state in late 2022, she has consistently prioritized international law, transparency, and human rights on the global stage.
Her official visit to Cairo reveals growing bilateral cooperation between Slovenia and Egypt, bringing together two influential leaders to discuss regional security, economic partnerships, and diplomatic coordination across Europe and Africa.
Slovenia and Egypt focus on human rights and Palestinian advocacy
Throughout her presidency, Pirc Musar has earned international recognition as an outspoken defender of Palestinian rights and a firm critic of military escalation in the Middle East.
She has publicly condemned the military campaign in Gaza and actively opposed the expansion of Israeli settlements, arguing that such actions undermine international law.
During September 2025, Musar condemned global powers and the permanent members of the UN Security Council, specifically the United Kingdom, China, France, Russia, and the United States, arguing that they prioritize their own limited national agendas over global harmony.
She asserted that these nations foster an environment of violence, instability, environmental damage, anxiety, systemic imbalance, and armed conflict.
Her principled stance has been widely acknowledged in Egypt, particularly following her symbolic gesture of raising the Palestinian flag outside the Slovenian Presidential Palace.
In an official statement reported by Egypt Today, Pirc Musar explained that “the war being waged against the Palestinians has not yet come to an end, and the people of Gaza and the West Bank still lack the ability to live in peace and dignity.”
She further noted that displaying the flag served as “a symbol of the grave violations of international humanitarian law and human rights,” calling it “a simple call to respect a fundamental, civilized principle: human dignity… for everyone.”
