Kai Trump is shooting down romance rumors between her and University of Miami football player Jake Weinberg.
A rep for President Trump’s granddaughter, 19, confirmed to TMZ this week that the two are just friends and are not romantically involved.
Trump and Weinberg recently sparked dating whispers after they were both spotted at the same restaurant in Palm Beach, Florida — but it looks like that may have just been a coincidence.
The two are both students at the University of Miami, where Kai is a freshman member of the women’s golf team, and Weinberg is a kicker on the football team.
Before transferring to the U, he played two seasons at Florida State University. Like Kai, he also grew up in Florida.
In the past, Kai has spoken about how “awkward” it can be to go on dates with all the Secret Service protection around her.
“To be honest, it’s really awkward when you’re… going on a date with a guy and they’re two tables behind you. It’s a little weird,” she said during a January 2026 appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast.
“I try my best to not let it bother me and I think I’ve learned, especially the past year now … to [know] yes, they’re following me, but also focus and pretend like they’re not there,” she added.
The buzz about a potential fling comes as Kai recently faced a major roadblock in her college golf career.
In October, the teen announced that she had undergone surgery to repair a wrist injury at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
She shared the news in an Instagram post, which was accompanied by a selfie of her lying in a hospital bed wearing a wrist cast.
“While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love,” Trump wrote in a statement, explaining that she had sustained the injury during her first tournament of the season.
“It’s certainly not how I envisioned the next few months, but sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination,” her statement continued.
Kai, whose dad is Donald Trump Jr., son of the president, said that her recovery will “take time,” but she thanked her coaches, family, and fellow teammates for their support.
