The newly created role is designed to support the health system’s continued growth, integration and long-term financial strategy.
“Andrew has spent his career leading finance and treasury functions for health systems of significant size and complexity,” said Susan Jennings, UABHS chief financial officer. “As we established this role for the first time, we wanted a leader who could bring experience in system integration, and Andrew’s background makes him the right person for that work.”
Walker joins UAB Health System from WellSpan Health, a $4.7 billion integrated health system based in York, Pennsylvania, where he served as senior vice president of Finance and Treasury. In that role, he oversaw accounting, financial reporting, treasury, debt compliance and investment strategy for the system, including a $1.4 billion debt portfolio and a $3.6 billion investment portfolio. He previously served as WellSpan’s vice president of Accounting and Financial Reporting.
Prior to WellSpan Health, Walker spent four years at Bon Secours Mercy Health, where he led financial reporting for a $10 billion health system. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he served as an assurance manager.
Walker is a certified public accountant licensed in Kentucky and Ohio. He holds both a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Kentucky.
