Surventis, formerly BASF Coatings, has unveiled its latest Automotive Color Trends collection, introducing three distinctive regional colours designed to influence future vehicle styling.

Called NEXISTENTIAL, the collection is the first released under the Surventis name following its establishment as an independent company.

Drawing on decades of automotive coatings expertise, the collection explores how changing consumer attitudes, technological developments and environmental concerns are influencing automotive colour preferences.

Surventis designers analyse global trends in society, technology, nature and mobility to develop colours, textures and finishes that vehicle manufacturers can incorporate into future models.

The latest collection combines expressive colours with more subdued tones, including rich blues, vibrant reds, warm neutrals and contemporary pastels.

Special effect pigments and surface finishes create changing appearances depending on lighting conditions and viewing angles.

Surventis global head of design Mark Gutjahr said colour played an increasingly important role in connecting motorists with their vehicles.

“Colors, materials and surfaces play an important role in this connection. They help express identity, create emotional engagement and strengthen the relationship between people and their vehicles,” Gutjahr said.

Three regional colours form the centrepiece of the collection.

For Asia Pacific, HORIZON FLUX offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional silver, incorporating subtle changes in appearance as light and viewing angles shift.

The finish is designed to convey stability, resilience and adaptability while maintaining a sophisticated metallic appearance.

The Americas’ CHROMOTOPIC METAL combines white and silver to create a bright, luminous finish.

Using advanced mica technology, the colour has been developed for efficient two-coat applications while delivering distinctive metallic effects.

For Europe, the Middle East and Africa, MOTILE RED combines deep burgundy with vibrant red highlights.

Its formulation incorporates non-fossil materials and pigments derived from transformed waste streams, demonstrating opportunities for more sustainable automotive coatings.

Surventis regional head of design Asia Pacific Chiharu Matsuhara said the collection represented an important milestone for the business.

“It marks the beginning of a new chapter for Surventis. While our name has changed, our passion for innovation, design excellence and customer collaboration remains the same,” Matsuhara said.

Headquartered in Germany, Surventis operates brands including Glasurit, R-M and Chemetall, serving more than 42,000 customers across 140 countries.

The company expects the latest colour concepts to influence production vehicle finishes over the coming years.
