HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston State University has selected CSA Search & Consulting to assist in the national search for its next head football coach, expanding the university’s existing partnership with the firm as it prepares for a new chapter in Bearkat Athletics.
CSA, which is currently assisting SHSU with its national search for a new director of athletics, will support preparations for the football coaching search, including identifying and screening prospective candidates through its extensive national network.
The university previously announced an expedited search for its next director of athletics, with the goal of making an appointment before the December holiday break. Once selected, the incoming director of athletics will lead the head football coach search in partnership with CSA.
“We are committed to identifying a head coach who can build a culture of accountability, develop our student-athletes and position Bearkat Football to compete consistently for championships in Conference USA,” said SHSU President Alisa White. “Our partnership with CSA will help us begin to build a national pool of strong candidates in preparation for our next director of athletics who will lead this important decision.”
CSA Search & Consulting specializes in executive search and consulting for higher education and collegiate athletics. The firm has assisted institutions across the country in recruiting athletics directors, head coaches and other senior leaders, bringing extensive experience and a national network to the search process.
“Bearkat Football has a proud tradition, and we have high expectations for its future,” White said. “We are looking for a leader who understands the demands of competing at the FBS level, is committed to the academic and personal development of our student-athletes, and can build a program that reflects the determination, character and competitive spirit of Sam Houston State University.”
Associate Head Coach Eric Raisbeck and Defensive Coordinator Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay will continue serving as co-interim head coaches following the university’s October 28 announcement of a change in football leadership.
Current Director of Athletics Bobby Williams will continue leading the Athletics department until his retirement in the spring, providing continuity during the leadership transition.
Additional information regarding the national head football coach search will be announced as the process advances.
