Mercedes-AMG has opened orders for the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV, its first full-size SUV engineered entirely in-house in 59 years and the second model on its AMG.EA electric architecture. The GT 53 starts at €113,050 (US$126,616) in Germany, with the GT 63 and GT 55 due in spring 2027.

Three axial flux motors give the flagship GT 63 up to 860kW (1,169hp), a 2.7-second run to 100km/h and a 270km/h top speed. The GT 55 delivers 600kW from the same layout, while the GT 53 uses two synchronous motors for 400kW.

AMG’s emphasis falls on repeatable performance, with cylindrical cells bathed in non-conductive oil to hold up to 530kW of continuous output. The 800-volt battery comes in 106kW/h and 128kW/h usable versions, and the larger pack accepts up to 710kW, adding as much as 450km of range in 10 minutes on preliminary figures.

AMG Active Ride Control+, standard on the GT 63, replaces conventional anti-roll bars with hydraulics that counter pitch and roll. Assembly is in Sindelfingen’s Hall 32, refitted for AMG.EA production.

In a statement, Stefan Weckbach, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG, said: “Our customers will experience the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV as a vehicle that, for the first time, uniquely combines two worlds: the practical advantages of a full-size SUV with maximum space, comfort and versatility, alongside the emotional sports-car character of a genuine AMG. The key to this lies in the high-tech from Affalterbach. In short: SUV by shape. GT by nature.”
