Prosecutorial decisions should never be driven by politics. They should be guided by the law, the facts, and the pursuit of justice.

The Gallatin County Attorney’s Office should be focused on enforcing the law, protecting victims, holding offenders accountable, and keeping our community safe. I believe our community deserves an office that puts those principles first.

I was born and raised right here in Gallatin County. After law school, I came home and worked as a prosecutor in the county attorney’s office for over six years before joining the Montana Attorney General’s Office as a state prosecutor. Since leaving that role in 2022, I started my private practice, handling orders of protection, representing victims and tackling criminal defense cases.

In my career, I have personally tried over 40 jury trials, including double homicides, sexual and violent offense, and have overseen more than 2,500 criminal cases.

Prosecutorial experience matters.

The decisions made by the county attorney’s office have real consequences for victims, families, law enforcement, and our entire community. An office without experience or mentorship for deputy prosecutors will lead to more unresolved cases, higher crime rates, and victims being left behind and unheard.

You deserve to know the work in the county attorney’s office will be done fairly, impartially, but most importantly, that every case cases taken seriously and that the parties involved will be treated with respect.

I am a prosecutor, not a politician. I believe in exercising independent judgment and make ethical decisions based on the facts and the law. It means working with law enforcement, listening and supporting victims, and holding repeat and violent offenders accountable.

I am proud to be endorsed by Sheriff Dan Springer, the Bozeman Police Protective Association, the Belgrade Police Officers Association and the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office Union. These are the law enforcement officers working in our communities every day who understand the challenges facing the community and the criminal justice system, while also risking their own safety to ensure ours.

Please look at the record for yourselves. Examine the statistics. Listen to victims. Talk to law enforcement. Ask whether the county attorney’s office is protecting our community and upholding the law as it should.

This race is not about politics. It is about restoring accountability, protecting victims, supporting law enforcement ethically, and making Gallatin County safer. I am asking for your support to do just that.

Jordan P. Salo is a candidate for Gallatin County Attorney.
