South Meadow School fifth-grade teacher Jenn Sutton received the Elementary Science Educator of the Year Award from the New Hampshire Science Teachers’ Association on Oct. 8 during the organization’s annual conference in Concord.

The annual award recognizes a K-6 science educator who demonstrates strong subject mastery, enthusiasm, and leadership, and effectively integrates state science standards through accessible teaching methods. Sutton transitioned to South Meadow School in Peterborough this year after previously teaching at Pierce School in Bennington.

Pierce School Principal Rachel Hill, who nominated Sutton for the honor last year, highlighted Sutton’s focus on place-based learning, hands-on inquiry, and community connections, including student projects raising and releasing painted turtles and tracking bird migration patterns through a partnership with the Harris Center. NHSTA President Tiffany Thompson commended Sutton’s outreach across the state education community.
