Jemimah Rodrigues sustained the hamstring injury during her time with English franchise Southern Brave in The Hundred and was subsequently ruled out of the tournament.
Following a further clinical assessment at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru shortly after, the BCCI’s medical team also ruled her out of the Asia Cup and Asian Games 2026 squads due to a high-grade tear to her right hamstring.
Apart from missing out on India’s title-winning campaigns at the Asia Cup and the Asian Games, Rodrigues was also out of contention for the team’s recently concluded home series against Zimbabwe, where the hosts sealed 3-0 wins in both ODI and T20I formats.
Jemimah Rodrigues, who last played for India in a Test against England in July, is the country’s fourth-highest run scorer in the T20I format, with 2824 in 131 matches.
She also played a key role in India’s maiden Women’s ODI World Cup triumph last year.
The 26-year-old smashed an unbeaten 127 against seven-time world champions Australia in the semi-finals, powering India to a world-record chase and a place in the final.
The Indian women’s team’s next assignment will be in December, when they travel to South Africa to take on the Proteas in three ODIs, as many T20Is and one Test.
Rodrigues has enjoyed success against South Africa in the past, having struck a fifty as well as a hundred against the Proteas in ODIs. She has also scored a fifty against them in T20Is.
