Hyundai Motor Group is keeping battery, hybrid, range-extender and fuel cell options open while market conditions continue to shift
Hyundai Motor Group has set out an electrification strategy spanning battery, hybrid, extended-range and fuel cell vehicles at the FISITA World Mobility Summit 2026, which it co-hosts in Hwaseong, Korea. Delegates heard the group aims to pair engineering expertise with AI-based digital tools to develop future vehicles.
Manfred Harrer, President and Head of the Research and Development Division, outlined the plan in an opening-day keynote. He described a roadmap built to adapt as markets and customer needs shift, with four drivetrain routes kept open.
The two-day summit is the first in Korea. Its organiser, the International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies (FISITA), has its first Korean President in Chang Hwan Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of the Electrification Energy Solutions Tech Unit at Hyundai Motor Group.
