EPFO WhatsApp Services: There is big news for crores of subscribers of EPFO. The organization has announced two big facilities. Union Labor Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday launched EPFO’s WhatsApp services and automatic settlement of inactive PF accounts. With this, account holders will be able to get information about PF balance, last 5 transactions and passbook on WhatsApp. At the same time, Rs 5 crore deposited in about 1 lakh inactive accounts with balance up to Rs 1,000 will be paid without individual claims.
Actually, the objective of these two initiatives of the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is to simplify the regular services related to PF and to reach their deposits to such account holders who have small amounts lying in their inactive accounts.
These facilities will be available on WhatsApp
Through EPFO’s verified WhatsApp service, members will now be able to get many information related to PF on their mobile. These include:
- PF account balance
- Information about last 5 transactions
- Passbook related information
- Personal guidance related to PMVBRY
- Assistance in completing necessary procedures
This facility will reduce the need for members to visit EPFO office for general services. With services available on familiar mobile platforms like WhatsApp, it will be easy to get PF information.
Automatic settlement of inactive accounts
EPFO has also started the facility of automatic settlement of eligible inactive PF accounts. Under this, there will be no need to file individual claims in Aadhaar verified inactive accounts whose balance is Rs 1,000 or less.
EPFO will start settlement of eligible accounts after prescribed identity and bank account verification. This will help in reaching the amount lying in the accounts to the right beneficiaries.
Profit of Rs 5 crore in about 1 lakh accounts
According to the Labor Ministry, this initiative is expected to benefit about 1 lakh inactive EPF accounts. A total of about Rs 5 crore is deposited in these accounts.
Through automatic settlement, eligible members will not have to complete the claim process separately. However, payment will require mandatory verification of identity and bank account.
With both these initiatives, EPF members will be able to easily get everyday information and assistance. It will be convenient to get balance and passbook information through WhatsApp service, while automatic settlement will ease the process of getting small amounts deposited in eligible dormant accounts.
