That’s right: on September 30, 2026, Lyft launched functionality that lets U.S. Lyft riders use the same Lyft app in European cities like London, Rome, Paris, Berlin, Athens, and Warsaw. Future expansion, which should now already be in place, was planned for Spain, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, and Austria.
This means that if you were already a Lyft user in the U.S., you can continue using the same app, account, and payment methods in certain European countries where Lyft is present.
In the next year, you can choose whether you want to pay in your home currency (such as U.S. dollars) or the local currency (such as euros).
We typically recommend choosing the local currency option when traveling abroad, as that’s often the best way to avoid dynamic currency conversion fees. We also suggest using travel credit cards with no foreign transaction fees.
Keep in mind that many Chase credit cards provide additional benefits for Lyft users, while certain cash-back credit cards offer elevated rewards on rideshare purchases.
