MILWAUKEE — The nation watching the first game of the World Series Friday night saw who the Brewers are.

Not just Robin Yount with a spine-tingling ceremonial first pitch tribute to his good friend Bob Uecker. And an electric sellout crowd at American Family Field.

Two first-inning runs held up and the Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2. This team knows how to win. Especially close games.

Captain Christian Yelich continued his excellent postseason with an RBI triple and William Contreras was strong at the plate (with an RBI single) and behind the plate (throwing out two runners trying to steal.)

Jackson Chourio helped tack on an insurance run in the 7th with an RBI single. All of his hits are important ones. Time would prove that run to be the difference in the game.

On the pitching front, Jacob Misiorowski was good enough. He went five innings, allowing one run and striking out three.

The Brewers bullpen took it from there. Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby with scoreless work. It got dicey in the ninth when a replay showed Cooper Pratt took his foot off second base. Trevor Megill held on, though.
