The National Migration Service (SERMIG), in coordination with the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations (SUBREI), implemented the digitalization of the application process for the APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC), a benefit that facilitates the travel of Chilean businessmen, executives and entrepreneurs to 18 economies of the APEC Forum.
The application can be made free of charge and 100% online, through the SERMIG Digital Procedures Portal and using ClaveÚnica, eliminating the presentation of paper documents and the need to attend in person.
The card is valid for five years and allows access to preferential lines at immigration controls at the main airports. Additionally, in economies that have granted prior authorization, it facilitates entry without the need to apply for a short-term visa.
The national director of Migrations, Frank Sauerbaum, highlighted that this modernization will simplify the process, reduce management times and provide a more agile and efficient experience to those who carry out international commercial activities.
For his part, the regional director of the National Immigration Service of Coquimbo, Ricardo Sprohnle, highlighted the importance of this tool for regional economic development: “The digitalization of this procedure represents an important advance to facilitate the mobility of businessmen, entrepreneurs and executives in our region who maintain international commercial links. As a Service, we seek to bring the procedures closer to people, simplifying procedures through digital tools that allow faster, more accessible and efficient management.”
From March 2026 to date, 443 people have applied for this benefit. Likewise, more than 6,200 Chilean business travelers have the ABTC Card, which facilitates their mobility in the Asia-Pacific region.
Interested persons can make their request through the Digital Procedures Portal of the National Migration Service, using their ClaveÚnica.
