CenterLight Health System hosted its inaugural Be the Light Gala at Guastavino’s in Midtown on Oct. 6.
The event brought together healthcare leaders, community partners and supporters to raise funds for programs serving older adults. It supported the CenterLight Impact Fund, which provides funding for programs designed to improve the health, social connections, sense of purpose and quality-of-life of participants in CenterLight’s Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).
WPIX11 News host Monica Morales hosted the event. Honorees included Victoria Schneps, founder, president and co-publisher of Schneps Media, which includes amNewYork and other community news publications; George C.K. Liu, MD, president, CEO, and chairman of the board, Coalition of Asian-American IPA; Sister Mary Anna Euring, O.P., PACE participant, artist and philanthropist; and Gustavo Rivera, New York State Senator and chair of the NYS Senate committee on health.

A highlight of the evening was the premiere of the Be the Light video, which featured CenterLight staff members and participants discussing their experiences with the program. Their stories illustrated how PACE services can support older adults beyond their medical needs.
“Spend a little time with the people in our program, and you learn quickly: good healthcare is about more than appointments, medications, and staying out of the hospital, said Tara Buonocore-Rut, President and CEO of CenterLight Health System. “It’s about friendship, purpose, culture and laughter — a reason to look forward to tomorrow. That’s exactly what the CenterLight Impact Fund makes possible.”
