Dynamic pricing is coming to car dealerships, if it hasn’t already. AI agents are now helping set vehicle prices.

The automotive industry could become the proving ground for a new model: buyer-side AI agents negotiating against seller-side AI agents.

Unlike chatbots, these agents can implement multiple steps. They can check inventories, schedule test drives, and even negotiate the out- the -door price.

“AI agents are indeed working for consumers. The AI agents have been able to save our customers about $2,800 per transaction,” Ray Shefska, Automotive Retail Analyst, said.

Sellers are using AI agents too, to sort through leads, match inventory, answer product questions, and set prices.

Sellers are using AI simply to employ fewer salespeople.

Many dealerships today are using AI agents on their behalf for dynamic pricing, so they can tell how serious a potential customer is and base pricing on that level of seriousness.

The AI agents can complete the car sales transaction, and they’re available 24 hours a day. This technology could affect vehicle prices.

”I think the dealerships will use it as a way to increase margins. We’re at the mercy of these agents. I hate to say it. We probably have to rein some of this artificial intelligence in. And right now, there seems to be no real effort to do that,” said Shefska.

AI agents are rapidly reshaping the automotive industry.

It’s gone from experimental tech to a core, mainstream business standard, replacing static window sticker prices.
