Construction on the Automotive Technology Training Center at Blount Center progressed
on Tuesday when crews began pouring the cement foundation. Seven truckloads poured
cement into the prepared frames as crews moved the cement into place and smoothed
it. The cement will be sealed as flooring in the classrooms and lab spaces.

Once the flooring is in place, construction will begin on the walls.

The 17,200-square-foot Center, on the north side of the Blount Center, will feature
interactive classrooms with advanced diagnostic tools and simulators, and specialty
teaching bays.

It will accommodate up to 60 students each semester, supporting the College’s Automotive
Service Technology certification program and the Automotive Service Management Technology
A.A.S degree program efforts to meet the growing needs of regional employers.

The Center is scheduled in be completed in time for Fall 2027 classes.

The building is under construction by Scorpio Construction. It was designed by Spiezle.
