Apple to report Q4 earnings Monday, with iPhone 18 sales in the spotlight

Apple (AAPL) will report its fourth quarter earnings after the bell today, providing investors with a glimpse of early iPhone 18 Pro sales.

The iPhone Duo went up for preorder on Oct. 16 and went on sale Oct. 23, missing Apple’s fiscal Q4, though the company could still offer color on demand.

This will also be Apple’s first earnings call with new CEO John Ternus, who took over the role from Tim Cook on Sept. 1.

For the quarter, Apple is expected to report earnings per share (EPS) of $2 on revenue of $113.46 billion, according to Bloomberg analyst consensus estimates. The company saw EPS of $1.85 and revenue of $102.46 billion in the same period last year.

Apple’s iPhone sales are projected to hit $56.48 billion, up 15% year over year. Services, the company’s second-largest segment, is set to top $31.58 billion in revenue, while the company’s Mac business is expected to see sales of $9.69 billion.

Wearables and iPad should generate $8.99 billion and $6.83 billion, respectively.

Apple stock has been a relative safe haven among tech stocks this year. Shares of the iPhone maker are up roughly 30% over the past 12 months. Peers Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOG, GOOGL), and Nvidia (NVDA) are up single digits in the same period, while Microsoft (MSFT) stock is flat. Shares of Meta (META) are down about 15%.

The last month hasn’t been any better. Google, Meta, and Nvidia took major hits, declining double digits. Google and Meta got dinged following their earnings results, and Nvidia is at least partly a victim of fears about the AI trade. Amazon is also off slightly over the past month, leaving just Apple and Microsoft in the green.

Apple stock fell 0.4% before the bell on Monday.

Apple has been largely insulated from the highs and lows of the AI market. It doesn’t spend billions on data centers, and it doesn’t rely on chip sales to generate revenue.

And that’s been a big help for the company’s stock price. Earlier this month, Apple’s market capitalization eclipsed the $5 trillion mark for the second time. Nvidia is the only other company to reach the milestone.

Apple is also riding a wave of new product launches. Outside of the iPhone 18 Pros and iPhone Duo, Apple has debuted a new pair of AirPods, Apple Watches, Macs, iPads, and more. Earlier this week, the company released an upgraded iPad mini, an improved iMac, and more powerful MacBook Pros, including one with a touchscreen display.

And earlier this month, it debuted its first smart home hub, the Apple HomeView.

Apple’s next major releases are expected early next year and will include a base iPhone 18 and a follow-up to the iPhone Air.
