ALBANY- Governor Kathy Hochul announced that $27 million is available through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to support the development of innovative alternative fuel technologies.
The announcement also includes nearly $10 million in awards for five projects focused on developing and testing alternative fuels and improving their safety.
The funding is intended to help reduce emissions in industries that are difficult to electrify, including aviation, heavy-duty trucking, maritime transportation and rail. It will also support technologies that can provide backup power.
The funding is available through NYSERDA’s Advanced Fuels & Thermal Energy Research program.
Hochul said the investments will help advance new energy technologies while supporting energy reliability, reducing emissions, and strengthening New York’s energy independence.
NYSERDA President and CEO Doreen Harris said the projects will help move promising alternative fuel technologies from research into real-world applications and determine their potential for wider use across the state.
