BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) — Fear is growing among Baltimore County residents as crime continues to escalate across multiple neighborhoods this week.
Baltimore County police responded to a report of gunfire just after 9 a.m. Wednesday in Gwynn Oak, where they found a 57-year-old man who had been shot several times. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. Earlier the same morning, police discovered a 19-year-old with a fresh gunshot wound who survived.
People in the community describe a sense of dread as they go about daily life. “It’s like now it’s scary. You get what I’m saying? It’s like you don’t really know what’s going to actually happen to you when you leave out your door,” said Travon Thomas, a concerned resident.
In Parkville, a gas station employee has decided to leave his job after the store he worked at was ransacked by burglars for the third time in two weeks. The break-ins resulted in thousands of dollars in damages and stolen merchandise for the business owner. “I’ve decided I can’t work anymore at this store. I’m scared. I have my own life. My family is everything,” the employee said.
This gas station is located directly across from a county police precinct, highlighting the challenges police face even in areas near law enforcement facilities.
Joe Vince, a former ATF Agent and Criminal Justice Professor, joined Fox45 to weigh in on the cases as new leadership takes over in the county.
