Laurent Favre inherits a Marelli whose biggest test comes after Chapter 11, when customers judge whether the supplier can deliver
Marelli has named Laurent Favre its Chief Executive with immediate effect, giving the former OPmobility chief the job of steering the supplier out of US Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Its lenders also plan to install former Audi Chief Executive Bram Schot as Chair once the restructuring is complete.
Favre replaces interim Chief Executive Fritz Henderson, whom the board credits with steadying the business and advancing talks with OEM customers. Marelli’s lenders had flagged the succession in April 2026.
He spent over 20 years at suppliers such as ThyssenKrupp, ZF and Benteler, and ran Benteler’s automotive division. As head of Plastic Omnium, since renamed OPmobility, from 2020 to 2025, he widened its geographic reach, customer base and product range, experience suited to a supplier that must win back customer trust.
In a statement, Favre said: “Our immediate priority is to complete the work required for a successful emergence from Chapter 11. Emergence is a critical milestone, but the turnaround must continue beyond it. We will focus on restoring Marelli’s financial strength, improving performance across the business and strengthening customer confidence through consistent delivery.”
Schot’s appointment depends on every restructuring condition being met. A veteran of more than three decades at Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen Group, he gives the lenders a second industry operator at the top, alongside board experience at Shell, Richemont, Cognizant and Signify.
