Good morning. Stocks surged on Wednesday, with most sectors green across the board after a Democratic mid-term election sweep. Tech (XLK) bounced as Apple (AAPL) shares hit all-time highs, sending the iPhone maker’s market cap above $5 trillion. Microsoft (MSFT) also surged 6% to hit a new record. The Nasdaq (^IXIC) Composite rallied more than 2%, while the Dow (^DJI) surged about 1,100 points, or about 2%.
Shares of SpaceX (SPCX) and Tesla (TSLA) initially fell over worries of regulatory hurdles in the AI data center build-out as Democrats took control of the House and Senate. However, those stocks trimmed losses as the overall markets surged higher.
Oil prices extended their decline amid growing hopes for a diplomatic resolution to the war in the Middle East. Brent crude oil futures (BZ=F) tumbled more than 2% to around $100 per barrel, while WTI (CL=F) also dropped, hovering above $93 per barrel.
