A 42-year-old man is facing several charges stemming from a hate crime investigation after hate-motivated signs were displayed in the window of a Winnipeg home.

On Sept. 8, Police received multiple complaints about hate-motivated signs and a hate-motivated symbol being displayed from a home near the Polo Park mall, police said in a news release on Sunday.

The major crimes unit started investigating and identified a subject.

On Friday, investigators executed a search warrant at the home with the help of the tactical support team and arrested the suspect.

Michael Ryan Wallbank, 42, has been charged with four counts of willful promotion of hatred and one count of willful promotion of hatred (hate symbols).

He was detained in custody.
