Happy Halloween! Do you have your costume ready? More importantly, do you have a supply of candy that can withstand the inevitable onslaught of trick-or-treaters? You can figure that out later — right now you’re here for the latest installment of Car Connections! I picked three US Top 40 singles for the week ending November 5, 1966, and managed to find ways to link them to automobiles. Those songs are “Good Vibrations” by The Beach Boys (#17), “Psychotic Reaction” by Count Five (#23), and “Winchester Cathedral” by The New Vaudeville Band (#24). You’ll see how I connected those songs to Mazda, Tesla, and Land Rover, but how would you associate them with cars? Tell us in the Comments section below. (And click here for more Car Games!)

“Good Vibrations”: You know what has good vibrations? The current Mazda MX-5 Miata’s 2.0-liter I-4 and the shifter for its six-speed manual gearbox. You feel those and pretty much everything else, including the road, responsive brakes, and communicative steering. Those are just some of the reasons why the Miata is still around after nearly 40 years.

“Psychotic Reaction”: Crazy. Insane. Tesla offered the Model X with Insane and Insane+ acceleration modes, the latter of which “increases peak torque by approximately 30 percent … while also heating up the Battery to its ideal operating temperature to ensure access to 100% of available power.” An instant 30-percent bump in torque? That’s nuts.

“Winchester Cathedral”: Firearms. Holland & Holland, a British company that crafts intricately detailed, high-end shotguns and rifles. Since the 1990s, it has collaborated with Land Rover to make Range Rover Holland & Holland special editions with exclusive exterior upgrades, interior woodwork and metal accents, and firearm storage options. The latest Holland & Holland model, produced in collaboration with British Land Rover tuner and customizer Overfinch, was introduced last year.
The gold-accented exterior encases a cabin filled with quilted Bridge of Weir leather, bespoke bird embroidery, open-pore French walnut veneers, handcrafted marquetry, machined gear selector with hand-finished wooden shift knob, and more. At the back are two “Companion Chests”: one holds two champagne bottles, crystal champagne flutes, staghorn corkscrew, cutlery, and other dining-away-from-home accessories; the other has space for two shotguns as well as shotgun shells, whisky tumblers, two decanters, and a pair of hipflasks.
