Investing.com — O’Reilly Automotive Inc (NASDAQ:ORLY) reported third quarter results that exceeded analyst expectations, with adjusted earnings per share of $0.97 beating the consensus estimate of $0.93 and revenue of $5.12 billion topping expectations of $5.01 billion.
The automotive aftermarket retailer posted revenue growth of 9% YoY, driven by comparable store sales growth of 7.2%. The company’s adjusted EPS increased 14% from $0.85 in the prior year period. O’Reilly cited a $39 million benefit from tariff refunds received during the quarter, which contributed to the strong earnings performance.
Shares rose 3.9% in after-hours trading Wednesday following the announcement.
CEO Brad Beckham attributed the results to market share gains across both professional and do-it-yourself customer segments, with double-digit growth in the professional business and mid-single digit growth in DIY. “This robust growth came on top of strong sales in the third quarter last year, resulting in a two-year stack of 12.8%,” Beckham said.
The company raised its full-year 2026 guidance, now expecting comparable store sales of 5.5% to 6.5%, up from previous projections. O’Reilly also increased its gross margin guidance to 51.6% to 52.1% and operating profit guidance to 19.5% to 20.0%. For full-year 2026, the company expects adjusted EPS of $3.25 to $3.35, with a midpoint of $3.30 slightly above the analyst consensus of $3.29. Revenue guidance of $19.0 billion to $19.3 billion has a midpoint of $19.15 billion, also above the consensus estimate of $19.14 billion.
During the third quarter, O’Reilly repurchased 11.8 million shares for $1.03 billion at an average price of $87.34. The company opened 173 net new stores year-to-date and expects to reach 225 to 235 net new store openings in 2026.
