About 48 lakh central government employees and 68 lakh pensioners will benefit from the Central Government’s decision to increase dearness allowance. How much will be the increase in the monthly salary of employees after the increase in DA? Let us know –
The benefit of increase will be available from July 1, 2026
The Central Government revises the rates of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief twice a year i.e. in January and July. Its objective is to reduce the impact of rising inflation. This time, under the amendment of July 2026, DA has been increased by 3 percent. Earlier, employees were getting 60 percent dearness allowance of the basic salary, which has now increased to 63 percent.
How much will the salaries of employees increase?
The 3 percent increase in DA will directly benefit the salaries of the employees. For example, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 30,000, then earlier he used to get dearness allowance of Rs 18,000. Now at the rate of 63 percent this amount will increase to Rs 18,900. That means the employee will get an additional Rs 900 every month. Similarly, the higher the basic salary, the higher will be the additional amount received due to increase in DA.
What is Dearness Allowance (DA)?
Dearness Allowance (DA) is an additional allowance given to central government employees. Its purpose is to reduce the impact of inflation on the purchasing power of employees. It is calculated on the basis of a percentage of the employee’s basic salary. Due to increase in DA, the total monthly salary of the employees increases. At the same time, pensioners get the benefit of Dearness Relief (DR). Employees may also get arrears depending on the date of implementation of the new rate.
