ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — When Cooper Pratt homered in the top of the 12th, it seemed like the Brewers would win their first World Series championship.
Instead, the Tampa Bay Rays scored twice against Shane Drohan in the bottom of the 12th to beat the Brewers 4-3. Pinch hitter Ben Williamson delivered the game-winning hit.
The Rays prevent a sweep and stave off elimination. There will be a Game 5 Wednesday night in St. Petersburg. And even if the Brewers lose that, the series would go back to Milwaukee.
The Brewers were very quiet in the locker room, but they are expected to start the presumptive National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob Misiorowski in Game 5. They’re still in the driver’s seat, as painful as Game 4 was.
Brewers fans have waited since 1970 for a championship. They’ll have to wait a little longer.
